MUSIC AND WORSHIP AT ST EDWARD'S
The Choir
The Choir normally sings at the 10am service on Sunday mornings and, occasionally at the 6.30pm service as well. It also sings at major mid-week services and, by prior arrangement, can be booked for weddings. Numbers of participants vary, and the choir is always looking for more singers, be they soprano, alto, tenor or bass.
Choir practices are held twice a month on Friday evenings from 6.30pm - 7.30pm in the church meeting room
For special occasions, e.g Christmas and Easter, we invite anyone who enjoys singing to join the extended choir. This usually involves 4 or 5 rehearsals.
Family Service Band
Family Service Band practices are held once a month on the Friday evening before the First Sunday of the month. E.g. 1st May Practice, 3rd May Family Service.
These take place in church from 6.15 - 7.00pm.
Any one who enjoys playing an instrument or singing can come and join us.You will be made very welcome and you don't have to attend every single service or rehearsal! Ring Angela on 707481 for more details.

'Music and Worship'
Music is central to our worship at St. Edward's church. Music has the power to touch our deepest emotions: our feelings, our inner self, our soul. It has the power to inspire and excite; to encourage and confirm; to soothe and calm. God can speak to us all in many and various ways. And at St. Edward's we use many different varieties of music to help us in our worship, from traditional hymns and English Choral music, through to more modern songs, songs from other cultures, song from the Taize and Iona communities, to contemporary music led recently by our newly formed 'rock-style' group.
